David Daigle’s art practice currently explores desire and sexual associations through contemporary social constructs and consumer imagery. His mixed media practice combines photography, sculpture, and technical images in order to create critical distortions and subversions of the photographic image.
Using sculptural intervention and decollage he drills holes into periodicals creating photographs that are littered with a constellation of openings. The holes – which bring forth voyeuristic associations to television, pixels, and orifices – act as apertures for questioning photographic conventions of materiality, scale, and the devotion to the paper print.
Artist, photographer, and educator, David Daigle attended Hampshire College for his BA and received his MFA from Art Center College of Design in 2022. Recent exhibitions include: Trypophobic Panopticons at Track 16 (2023); The Pink Opaque at The Broad Art Foundation (2021); This Is where I Draw The Line at The Lovelace Family Trust Gallery & Sculpture Project Room at Art Center College of Design (2021); and group shows at Human Resources (2023), LA Artcore (2022), M+B (2023). Daigle is represented by Track 16 Gallery in Los Angeles.
