WAR as reflected in Poetry, Film, and Posters

Reservations are not needed for this event. For information, call (310)453-0183.

The program will include a preview of the forthcoming documentary, "Poetry in Wartime", and will feature readings by four of the prominent poets who appear in the film: Chris Abani, Sherman Pearl and Antoniete Villamil, all from the Los Angeles area; and Emily Warn of Seattle.

The film traces poetic voices that have reflected wars from ancient times through World Wars I and II, Vietnam and Iraq. It will be introduced by its director, Rick King.

Also featured will be a showing of anti-war posters, presented by the Center for the Study of Political Graphics (CSPG) and its executive director, Carol Wells.

The program is co-sponsored by CSPG and the nationwide Poets Against the War movement, headed by poet Sam Hamill.

Refreshments will be served, and a $5.00 donation to the sponsoring organizations is requested. For information, call (310)453-0183.
